Hazal was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She graduated in 2009 from the Liceo Italiano di Istanbul. Her parents divorced when she was 7 years old. She was introduced to the art and acting world at a very young age, as a child she took ballet and violin lessons for 7 years. Kaya speaks Turkish, English and Italian. She was also said to be learning her fourth language German.

Hazal played a historical role as Feriha Yılmaz Sarrafoğlu in Adını Feriha Koydum which was one of the most famous serial and it has the highest TV ratings in Turkey. She played the role of a porter's daughter trapped between two lives that falls in love with the most popular student in her university, a rich and handsome boy "Emir Sarrafoğlu".

Kaya is one of the highest paid actresses in Turkey. The website "World's Most Beautiful" ranked her fifth on the list of 10 most beautiful women of 2016.
